Welcome to Sunnyvale

Sunnyvale, located south of San Jose, along historic El Camino Real and Highway 101, is home to several high-tech companies as part of Silicon Valley such as Juniper Networks, Yahoo!, and Ariba as well as several aerospace/defense companies.
This area was originally heavily populated by Ohlone Native Americans, but several converted to Christianity when the Spanish arrived. The Mission that was built there was constructed by one of these converts. Before World War II, Sunnyvale was had mostly a fruit industry, but it changed during the war into a more high-tech industry.
Sunnyvale has large parks program that was designed with the idea that every neighborhood would be within walking distance of a park. The city is also known to be bike friendly with many on- and off-road bike lanes.

Local legend has it that the local Toys'R'Us is haunted. The haunting has been explored on TV shows. Famous psychic Sylvia Browne has claimed to make contact with the spirit on the 1978 TV show That’s Incredible! And it was explored again in 1991 on Haunted Lives: True Ghost Stories.
